Europeans talk more politics while typical American hates politics. Why?

I've noticed that Europeans know about and talk more about political matters. Sometimes I think that Europeans know more about America than Americans. I've read some of these newspapers--Guardian UK, Irish newspapers, Le Monde, etc. Europeans like their politics! Possibly, even a 10 yr old Brit will talk more politics than a 32 yr old American! Typical American wants to stay away from political talk--no deep ysis here. I mean, I know a person or two who will offer a minute comment, talk about a politics-laced TV show that he or she has seen, but no more. Is that fear, lack of the ability to yze events, uncertainty, boredom, or possibly plain old dis-interest? I'm speaking of the average person.
