Is Etsy a good thing for me?

So I hear this is a good website to sell your hobbies (mine is crochet). How profitable is this? Would I have to devote a considerable amount of time to production? And how likely is it that my stuff will be bought. There's already a lot of products similar to what i would also sell. I'm preferably looking for answers from people who have or are selling their stuff on Etsy.
